Note also a beautiful/authentic production of Eugene Onegin from Bolshoi, directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov, that we saw in Paris almost 2 years ago, with almost the identical cast, as well as Le Nozze di Figaro with a very good cast (Spagnoli, Dasch, Gunn, Kurzak). Then  two concert-operas: (1) La finta giardiniera with  Alexandrina Pendatchanska, Sophie Karthäuser, Topi Lethipuu... and René Jacobs conducting. (2) Daphne with  Ricarda Merbeth, Burkhard Fritz,  Robert Holl...


Typically a Mortier-kind of season: he obviously defines his style in Madrid. It will be interesting to see how vocal will be his opponents there ;)

  1. Wow--Teatro Real is doing Ainadamar. That's huge. Spain has a real amnesia issue with Franco's atrocities. This is a powerful piece. I hope it gets a superb production. Jessica Rivera and Kelly O'Connor are both amazing performers in their roles.
